I may be slightly nerdy being that I am a physicist and such, though I believe this series is made for everyone from all different backgrounds. The focus of the series is on the drama going on between humanity and their children in itself, not just on 'a big shoot'em up adventure' like the average scifi/drama/adventure type of series or movie is. The first series I have seen that brings in religious aspects without directly inferring any known organized religion (that I am aware of), and also to approach this possibility from a more scientific point of view (as scientific as hollywood can get, which is impressive in this case, and I am not talking about the main religion of the people of the colonies). This is the only series that I have seen to cause every single person, including myself, to absolutely BAWL at the end. Prepare yourself for the ultimate binge watching emotional roller coaster .

This new version of Battlestar Galactica is nothing more than a soap opera that just happens to be set in space. The original version in the late 1970s was much better, with better actors and much better acting. Granted, the special effects on the original series look a bit cheesy and dated by today's standards, but for the late 70s they were state-of-the-art.

Dives deeper into the Battlestar Pegasus saga, where military obedience forces an appearance of villainy and sacrifice
