Acerca de esta película

Imagine a school where the cool kids are the chess team! Welcome to I.S. 318. This irresistibly uplifting doc tells the stories of five members of the chess team at an inner city junior high school that has won more national championships than any other in the country. The film follows the challenges these kids face in their personal lives as well as on the chessboard, and is as much about the sting of their losses as it is about the anticipation of their victories. These are kids that you will not soon forget. A FilmBuff Presentation. MPAA Rating: PG

The priorities of this nation make me sick. The whole world could spend less for war, than if they'd invest those trillions in education. It's astonishing and heartwarming to see how great and all important a good teacher can be, and it's egregiously heinous that we show so little respect for teachers, way underpay them and are attracting the wrong people by not making them equal in pay and respect to doctors and judges. The children were beautiful.

This was an encouraging movie showing compassion, diligence, hard work, disappointments and victories. I commend the teachers and admin who really support their kids, providing an opportunity for success. It also made me cry that selfish, greedy corporate America robs kids of the opportunities to advance themselves due to budget cuts etc..even then they fought back!

This movie tells the inspiring story of how using a centuries old board game, dedicated educators and a supportive community can help our future leaders to overcome the obstacles placed in their path and teach them how to succeed despite the odds.
