My GOD. Titanic is the only other film that has ever made me feel the way this movie did. I sat up for no less than an hour after watching; going through the scenes in my head, further understanding and falling into an emotional roller coaster because of it. Then the next day I watched it again. For those of you thinking it can't be like every one says it is; IT IS! Elio and Oliver, the title love characters, transcend the traditional plot of lgbt focused movies and give us SO MUCH MORE. The sexual awakening of Elio feels real and that makes it all the more poignant because you can see YOURSELF in his issues. Elio and Oliver are perfect yet conflicted, the way a true love story should be. The scenes are Beautiful and the music eloquent. Personally I could have gone without the much much smoking but hey it was the 80s after all. This is the meaning of a perfect movie, that you will come out of more developed in heart and mind. Particular scenes will leave you turning the gears of your head trying to keep up with the incredible wit of the characters. Other scenes will leave you ready for tears at the realism and heart of them, and I am not ashamed to say I was one of those individuals, particularly in the final scene, I watched it over and over and over and it was impacting each time. Yeah it has sex but A) that composes of maybe 5 percent if that of the whole film and the emotion is mainly felt through the character's words and deafening silence not the sex and B) Lets be real, there is nothing in the film, the sex, masturbation, or swearing that 97 percent of individuals over the age of 14 have not experienced from mainstream television, movies, and outside life. Not to mention that ONCE AGAIN, these things are kept at the bear minimum. Only enough for the audience to gain something. There is no over saturation of these things. Overall, anyone who has not watched this film is severely missing out on one of the best movies of the decade that is truly eye opening and just plain Brilliant. I CAN NOT wait for the sequel, Find Me, to come out. Hope you enjoy!

The best film of 2017. Like Brokeback Mountain, this devastating romance features two people who meet and fall in love despite the risks of their relationship in a society that frowns upon such same-sex attraction. Elio and Oliver have a brief but powerful relationship that is still conflicted and messy. Oliver is not necessarily gay, but finds himself attracted to Elio anyway; Elio is trying to figure out what he wants. Elio's parents are well played by Amira Casar and Michael Stuhlbarg, who gives one of the most punch-to-the-gut monologues in recent years during the final moments of the film. But this belongs to Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet. Hammer gives a great performance as the brashy American who first upsets the apple (peach?) cart with his mannerisms and more aggressive personality. While physically the actor seems too old for the role, he has a natural chemistry with Chalamet that is riveting. Meanwhile Chalamet received an Oscar nomination for his performance, deservedly so. Nothing flashy, just an unbelievably resonant performance as Elio. His final scene staring into a fire is heartbreakingly honest and real.

I haven't seen it & don't plan to. The subject matter doesn't interest me. And I found it in bad taste to release it smack dab in the middle of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Almost like a, 'Yeah we don't give a damn.' Some may say perhaps an unfair judgement of what might be a good movie (according to reviews here), but people don't seem to realize (or choose to ignore) the fact that the world is aplenty of men looking for younger boys. Pedophilia is a global epidemic, a sickening underground web that reaches into places & heights that would knock the socks off your grandma. So no, I don't support things or people with skewered principles.
