Todd Haynes is a genius. The performances are perfect. The soundtrack is like a character. The costumes are wonderful. Every detail, word and shot has meaning, but you may have to work a little to fully understand. It's not a film spoon-fed to the viewer, though there are multiple ways to enjoy it. It really rewards you upon repeat viewings. People who think 'Carol' is cold missed the point. I wouldn't change one thing about this movie - other than that it has to end - and I still can't believe it's real.

Cate Blanchett is nothing short of flawless. Besides being stunningly beautiful, her acting is at once intense and subtle, bringing to her performance a dramatic air of expertise only a seasoned great like she could deliver. Rooney Mara plays off of her well, meeting her skill and experience with fresh talent still raw and waiting to be shaped. Furthermore, as a lesbian myself, I am truly grateful to everyone who gave us this movie. We needed it, and we need more like it still.

As mundane as i thought this movie to be after seeing it for the first time, this film never left my thoughts. Months after i saw it, i decided to re watch it and i will confidently say, My first impression was not at all an impression which describes this film. Todd Haynes masterfully directs a deep and moving love story with such subtleties of innocence & scandal, hopefulness & heartache. This movie employs a stellar cast to convey this desirably charged yet soul wrenching passion of love. Look closely
