“Crazy Rich Asians” sigue a la neoyorquina Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) mientras acompaña a su novio de toda la vida, Nick Young (Henry Golding), a la boda de su mejor amigo en Singapur. Emocionada por visitar Asia por primera vez, pero nerviosa por conocer a la familia de Nick, Rachel no está preparada para descubrir algunos detalles importantes que Nick olvidó mencionar acerca de su vida. Resulta que no solo es el retoño de una de las familias más adineradas del país, sino que también es uno de los solteros más codiciados. Estar junto a Nick, convierte a Rachel en un blanco para las aristócratas celosas y peor aún, para la propia madre de Nick (Michelle Yeoh), quien desaprueba la relación. Y, pronto quedará claro que, aunque el dinero no puede comprar el amor, definitivamente puede complicar las cosas.

I notice tons of 5 star and 1 star reviews so I'm going to be different and say 2 and a half stars. The script was for the most part what I'd call "trite", plus overall it wasn't that funny. However there was good acting by Michelle Yeoh, Constance and Awkwafina. Too much overacting by the girl who played Araminta. The only time I laughed out loud was when Awkwafina told Rachel that Eleanor would probably offer $omething in exchange for willfully disappearing.

I enjoyed the whole movie but my favorite person is 'Ashley even with all the money the family had she wasn't a snob like everyone else. The wedding entrance for the bride gets to me every single time I watch it.

Bad writing, bad acting, and the only POC were ALL SERVANTS. It's the quintessential "American in a foreign land" film, but with a modern twist. Still, it's deeply patriarchal and racist.
