Hmmm... ok... So, I've never read the book this is based on and I just watched it for the first time (in 2020). I will say that the overall film and James Dean's performances are worth a watch, but as a story it's... complicated. I'm guessing Dean's "bad" character may be dealing with mental deficiencies (given how Dean behaves) but that's strangely treated as being passionate in other ways? Also, it felt like Abra went from being scared of Cal to being in love with him too quickly. IDK...

I recently read the book. This movie captures about half of the story. Still, it's a well made movie. I am glad that I watched it. Plus, it's the first James Dean movie that I have ever watched. Not bad at all
