Let me start by saying i obsess over ALL THINGS JANE. I have watched the classics so many times i think i know every line by heart. I am not a Jane Purist, I love Death Comes to Pemberly. **BUT THIS WAS A TERRIBLE ADAPTATION OF EMMA** There was no chemistry between actors, no connection. I didn't care about any of the characters. The only saving grace were the costumes and scenery. I have to wonder why they chose to revisit Emma and do it so poorly? $$$$ SAVE YOUR MONEY $$$$$ I wish someone would remake Mansfield Park or Persuasion. Preferable the same people who made the 2005 Pride and Prejudice or the 1995 Sense and Sensibility.

If you love Jane Austen's Emma dont waste your time and money. This adaptation took a funny, meddling young girl and portrayed her as mean spirited, arrogant and snarky. Not sure if it was the casting or simply the way the durectolr wanted to portray the characters. I am not a Gwyneth Paltrow fan, but that adaptation was funny and kept close to the book. Half way through this movie I turned it off for I couldnt stand the bad acting . This is a HORRIBLE adaptation. Total shame!

Well, I started to watch this movie in the hopes it was just as good as the Emma 2009 miniseries. The first 15 mins I was truly disappointed and turned it off after paying $20. Nothing like Americanizing a good British classic. Now what was the reason to show people's buttocks in the film? I'm truly lost there. Don't waste your time on this film. Rent the Emma 2009 film and you will get such a great movie about the real Emma that Jane Austen wrote about.
