Acerca de esta película

From acclaimed director Blake Edwards (The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany's) comes this shocking tale of suspense. Kelly Sherwood (Academy Award® nominee Lee Remick, 1962, Best Actress, Days of Wine and Roses) works as a bank teller in 1960s San Francisco when she is threatened by a shadowy, asthmatic man (Ross Martin, TV's "The Wild Wild West"), who demands that she steal $100,000 from her bank. When the man threatens the lives of Kelly and her sister, FBI Agent John Ripley (Glenn Ford, 3:10 to Yuma) is put on the case. The investigation sends Ripley on a wild goose chase through the streets of San Francisco, leading to a thrilling climax during a baseball game at Candlestick Park, featuring actual members of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. Just finished this film. Pretty entertaining and well done. The cinematographer from Dirty Harry definitely copied a lot of the camera angles here. The story is similar in its themes as DH, of course this film coming first. This plot was well written, but I couldn't help but want more "bite" or aggression from Glenn Ford's Ripley. I enjoyed his intensity with the villian's mistress. Thought the ending would be better, that Glenn Ford would actually do something, but no, just shot him, which is fine, just anticlimactic. I enjoyed how methodical and efficient the G-men were in this film, they seemed morally grounded to me, not over-dramatic like I've seen in other films. Lee Remick was great, as always, beautiful and genuine in her terror. I recommend "The Long Hot Summer" from '58 with Paul Newman. She plays an amorous young Southern wife well in that supporting role. I enjoyed the scene with the Mrs. Ashton in the mannequin apartment. That was well done. Predictable by thriller standards (not at the time this film was made, but later in cinema) but gripping in its camera direction. Glenn Ford is no Clint Eastwood, but this film definitely spurred the screenplay for DH.
