Chris-a pecan farmer and devout Evangelical Christian in California's San Joaquin Valley-suffers a sudden and unspeakable tragedy. In an instant, he faces a world that feels unjust and chaotic with a belief system that feels insufficient. His marriage starts to fall apart, the world seems without meaning, and he feels disconnected from his family and community. As he confronts his new reality, can he find solace where he normally would-in church and with God? Or must he accept the world as it now feels-unjust, unregulated, and free of significance?
