I never tire of seeing actor Michael Shannon, and I can't wait for the day - and the film - when he will get to play the role of his career. Freeheld is not Philadelphia. Despite the great Julianne Moore, it does not seem to be able to achieve the same dramatic effects. But it's a very good and true story about the injustices people who cling to medieval concepts of life impose on other members of society. And it does something Philadelphia didn't do: It shows the painful hypocrisy of those who practice intolerance - and those who let it pass without saying a word - when they rapidly move to the winning side and take credit for the progress and the justice they tried so stubbornly to stop in the first place.
