Acerca de esta película

Rasmani (Moushumi Chatterjee) lost her husband in her childhood. She expires all of a sudden and her jewellery box goes missing. Everyone is guessing that it must be the handy work of Somlata (Konkona Sen Sharma). Somlata is not bothered about that perception. In these circumstances, Somlata gives birth to a baby girl, who has an uncanny resemblance to Rasmani. But Pisima (Aunt - Father's sister) does not leave the women of later generations, Somlata and Chaitali alone -- she haunts them to act on her whims and fancies. What happens next? Goynar Baksho is a film adaptation of Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's novel, is about three women, belonging to three generations. It is through the nature of their association with a goynar baksho or jewellery box that the evolving social status of these women gets explored, accompanied with healthy dose of comic elements. This is a good movie to watch once. Mousumi's ghostly presence is endearing and sweet, and binds every chapter in the story. Konkona's role and acting comes a close second. The theme does not dwell much on the generational aspects, which seems to be an added after thought.
