At the ripe old age of 30, Alex (Allen Covert) has hit rock bottom: he's broke, he's single and he's just been kicked out of his apartment. He finds himself with no choice but to move in with his Grandma, Lily (Shirley Knight) and surprisingly naughty Grace (Shirley Jones). They don't have cable and they ask Alex to do chores every day before work - life couldn't get much worse. Alex, who tests video games for Brainasium by day, spends what little spare time he has designing his own video game, "Demonik." Lilly learns to play the game and quickly becomes its biggest fan; little does Alex know she's also about to become his secret weapon. When Branasium hires SAMANTHA (Linda Cardllini), a gorgeous video game expert, to oversee the project Alex is working on, he is instantly smitten. J.P. (Joel David Moore), genius video game creator and Alex's nemesis, also falls for Samantha. He attempts to sabotage Alex by stealing "Demonik" and pitching it to their boss, Mr. Cheazle (Kevin Nealon).
