Jeremy Bell
Pros: -Interesting writing/directing style that gives a slightly different feel than typical romantic comedies. -Has a modern style that embraces "awkward" comedy (kissing noses, uncomfortable situations, etc) - Gives you a peek inside an interesting corner of hollywood (the voice over actor). Cons: - Couple weird emotional jumps from laughing to horrible tragedy (wife caught cheating). It was just kind of jarring. - Writing could have been more crisp. - The moral of the story was a little superficial. Politics (spoiler): - Obviously this movie has a political/moral message about women coming into their own power. I'm all for this. However, to raise women up, I think we need to "lift all boats" and not make women empowerment at the expense of males. At the end, the dad suffers a tragedy where he's coming to the end of his career and is defeated for a voice-over job (by his daughter) and he runs into a room to cry. His girlfriend comes into the room and becomes a mother figure and berates the father for crying and not "maning up". These types of rules of manhood destroy boys at an early age.

The premise sounded interesting. Too bad it died in the first 10 minutes and never resurrected. My god, is that what people sound like in LA these days? The plot was predictable, the acting horrible, the dialog pathetic, the speech unintelligible. The actors all sounded like they were reading the same part. Give it a pass.

Kudos to Lake Bell for coming up with an innovative theme for movie and also executing it well. Love the underlying quirkiness. There were some scenes that were highlights for the movie such as the "kiss on the nose" and "positive roadblock". I wish her the very best for her future endeavors and more people should watch the movie.
