Acerca de esta película

The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to a cinematic event, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big. Lights up on Washington Heights. The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tightknit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life. “In the Heights” fuses Lin‐Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.

I consider myself a bit more educated about Latinx, what the term means and some of the issues around Latinx representation in 'In the Heights' but I don’t entirely agree with some of the flack this movie came in for. It's a flawed but beautifully filmed and infectiously scored musical piece about the lives and loves of the community of Washington Heights, New York. Dont believe the trailer. It would have you believe that this is some colourful happy extravaganza! The reality couldn't be further away from that. Never mind Washington Heights. You will be Watching some shite! What a film! People whinging and whining about their sorry lives, when they own businesses, have jobs, money, apartments. Ffs. Never seen anything like it. Depressingly awful with people singing about escaping to somewhere else and never actually leaving. 2 1/2 hrs of my life lost.

It was OK. Can't imagine you'll find any of these songs will get stuck in your head. Bit long for a musical considering nothing really happens
