Acerca de esta película

From director Clint Eastwood, "Invictus" tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team, Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.

It was an in-flight movie to Latvia haha. Was trying to fall asleep on that long flight then this movie came on and I was fixated. Great story of leadership and teamwork. Using sports to motivate a country sounds a little corny, but on the contrary, it really makes you root for the "team".

Enjoy the film... relevant even today (especially today) as societies continue to struggle with the meaning of human decency, reconciliation, forgiveness and diversity. I suggest this film be watched as the third part of a trilogy: The Power of One (first), De Klerk (1998 version, second), and Invictus (third). An excellent progression of events in South Africa from the 193's though 1990s. I use the progression as part of an AP Human Geography class. As for Mr. Stevens' review - thanks for his insightful comments. He must believe he understands what he's talking about because surely he, too, grew up in a completely upside down racist society.... as a member of the legally identified "underclass" without basic rights or dignity... subjected to hate, de jure segregation and squalor... denied socio-economic mobility, trial by jury, justice, educational and professional opportunities... all despite being the majority of the populace! You go, Dan!

Love Nelson Mandela. Love sports. Love that it took place right when apartheid ended. Love this movie. It's moving, unpredictable. It's inspiring. Hard to believe that stupid poem inspired Mandela, but then 27 years in prison.... Must see movie!
