Academy Award®-winner Natalie Portman stars as Jane Hammond, a woman who has built a life on the rugged western plains with her husband Bill "Ham" Hammond (Noah Emmerich of "The Americans") and young daughter. When Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after a run-in with the relentless John Bishop (Ewan McGregor of STAR WARS) and his gang, she knows they will not stop until her family is dead. In desperation, Jane turns to Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton or BLACK MASS), a man from her past, for help. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.

A tale told mostly from Jane's POV and stays true to the violence that women back then dealt with and this girl gets her revenge, something very few did. Some male reviewers call this a feminist movie, yet if the character were male they wouldn't say the same. While it wraps up neatly in the end for the main characters I was actually glad of it because sometimes you just need a good old fashioned happy ending. The other thing I wanted to add was that it seems "Western" to some reviewers means shoot-em ups and they feel cheated when the movie isn't flat out killing from beginning to end. Sorry fellas, Western means something else entirely. All in all, a good movie with stories behind the main characters.

This movie is well done and blows away Quentin Tarantino's hateful 8 piece of souless Hollywood Self Indulgent crap! This movie was well-acted had a great story and was free of the childish need to say the N word every 2 minutes for kicks...and Ewan McGregor wow!! what a great job of makeup....I recognized his voice and thought it was him but couldn't recognize him wow! The cast did a great job all the way around. This movie had heart soul and a great story... Great job!

A film more focused on relationships than a bunch of gun fights, though it does have its share of violence. I really appreciated its perspective on life in the West for women and men alike. Glad I rented it and glad I watched it.
