Wow! I almost missed a great film due to misleading reviews here. This is an American classic. It has an "It's a Wonderful Life" feel to it, with a little Deer Hunter edge - but doesn't get too dark and delivers in the end. The cast, direction, and production are top notch. Fortunately the script is worthy. Truth is stranger than fiction, in this case - more entertaining too - skip Star Wars and the other crap on demand and rent this winner.

I love Jennifer Lawrence as an actress. She is (To me) one of the best actresses of our time. But seriously, what happened here? This movie was bland, predictable, and just plain bad! I expected a lot more from her and Robert in this film. I knew exactly how this movie was going to end 5 minutes into the film. I'm sorry, but after X-Men: Apocalypse and now this, Jennifer Lawrence isn't in the actress she was 2 years ago. (D+)

Which always reflects exponentially negative when they're not met, ergo the '2' . I mean with such a stellar cast (though I fear using that as a qualifier for Deniro is sadly too generous these days) (wow sadder words have never been uttered :/ ) one would truly have high expectations right?But alas they were quickly dashed with this mediocre screenplay & overall just subpar subject matter.Idk, i mean maybe i hoped for some of that 'silver linings playbook' ⚡ to strike twice..ah but there lies the rub
