Former United States President Ronald Reagan delivers a star performance in this classic, heart-wrenching drama of the damage caused by dark secrets that lie just beneath of surface of an idyllic life in the small town of Kings Row. Early 1900s. Five children grow up together to become young adults in a seemingly perfect middle-American town, but they are haunted by carefully hidden mental illness--which erupts violently: One of the friends is murdered by her father, the town psychiatrist, when he discovers she is pregnant; and a vindictive surgeon unnecessarily amputates the legs of a dashing young playboy (Reagan) who had dated his daughter.
