Really great end to the franchise. They narrowed the scope and told a smaller, tighter story instead of the usual X-Men type "end of the world" scenario. I don't understand people's gripes with the violence and grittines. I don't think they've ever actually read a wolverine series, movie wolverine wasn't a real close relation to comic wolverine. This is a much more faithful version. It's not an exact replica of the Old Man Logan series but it couldn't be with the limitations on characters they had access to with licensing but they managed to craft a really great story out of it and turn it into something new. It isn't a walking into the sunset ending but it was a very weighty one. This is by far one of the best Marvel movies to come out. Really great guys, thank you for great ride through the movie.

"I always know who you are. It's just sometimes I don't recognize you." Nothing short of genre defining, a tribute to what superhero movies can be. A solid contender for the best superhero movie ever made with it's uncommonly realistic dialog, beautiful imagery, oscar nom worthy performances from more than one cast member, and stunning makeup design. Patrick Stewart is simply mesmerizing in his best portrayal of Professor Xavier ever tied with an expertly envisioned character dealing with alzheimer's. Hugh Jackman lays down his best performance of his career and it pains me to say that he won't be getting an oscar nom for it, though I believe it's a performance worthy of the honor. Even Boyd Holbrook brings to life a villainous character that actually lights up the scenes he's in with glorious tension. There is no weak performance. This is all that I wish for and more from my movies. Smart, thoughtful, artful, and provoking. I couldn't have thought of a better end to Jackman's wolverine if I tried.

The action is ok but the story isn't. Ultimately this movie is a little depressing it never explains exactly how the professor or wolverine ended up where they were at and just what happened to every other known character from the past. Just as "The Days of Future Past" undid the previous movies this movie undid The Days of Future Past story...(in my opinion)...meaning that past characters were and probably already dead by this new movie's story telling. This movie clearly was made to finally end the characters of the professor and wolverine which is kinda a cheap easy way out to put something of sorts on film. The 3rd act action wasn't long enough and simply put...just too fast to get to the end. I can tell this movie will get some people on the negative side by simply pretty much throwing away all the past characters out like it was yesterday's trash. The people who made this movie sure did an injustice to the franchise didn't honor any of the previous characters from the past movies but completely snub every x-men character that was shown before this movie all for the sake of telling a very simple story. Watching this movie once was enough for me. Wish it had something different to offer and memorable but I guess anything for money will be made.
