Acerca de esta película

Newly remastered and finally available to own, Thom Andersen's landmark documentary Los Angeles Plays Itself explores the tangled relationship between the movies and their fabled hometown - as seen entirely through the films themselves. Andersen takes viewers on a whirlwind tour through the metropolis' real and cinematic history revealing the real city that lives beneath. An extraordinary documentary, unlike any that has come before or since.

It's an interesting take. It feels a bit more personal to the narrator that most documentaries, both because the narator's tone is more conversational, and because he is giving his thoughts on the movies presentation of Los Angeles. A word of warning (since I couldn't find any rating information before renting this): there are several scenes which are not exactly family appropriate. For example, at one point a clip of a shootout in a strip club is used.

Could have been so much better. Narrator is miserable. Lame.
