Adapted from Eileen Chang's short story, Love After Love tells the story of Ge Weilong, a young girl from Shanghai who travels to Hong Kong in pursuit of her education. In order to pay for her studies, Weilong turns to her father's estranged sister Mrs. Liang, for help. Mrs. Liang is leading a shady life, and Weilong graudally becomes her aunt's puppet in the game of luring the rich and powerful men. Meanwhile, Weilong falls head over heels for playboy George Qiao and ultimately gets stuck in a loveless marriage.
