The visual style of Metropia is purported to have been inspired by the works of Terry Gilliam (a member of Monty Python), Roy Andersson and Yuriy Norshteyn. The film uses a technique where actual photographs have been altered and heavily stylized with Photoshop & After Effects, and then animated. This movie felt familiar to me. So when I learned that inspiration came from Terry Gilliam, I realized that's where it was coming from. If you've ever seen a Monty Python animation, this is a more complex version of that style, which IMO is fun. I enjoy that style and frankly this movie gets an extra star just on style alone, because the story is overly familiar. There are countless movies/TV shows out there that tell the story of "Corporations Too Big To Fail Will One Day Rule the World". I'm currently watching the new TV series Continuum which is pretty much a retread of this. So the story is a bit predictable. Pacing was 'odd' too, there were points where I wanted the story to move along and points where I had to rewind because I found myself saying, "Wait, what?". Overall though this was an enjoyable experience, and I would watch it again if someone wanted to see it.

Great film found it cheaper on amazon. I called Play store and refused to match the price, even though I was told they would.
