I wish they had done this with Lea Salonga back then. What a smooth transition from stage to movie. Stage acting is totally different from film acting, and it was a good thing that the actors tamed the excessive movements and expressions. I wish they had retained the rotating gate applied on stage during the "Fall of Saigon" scene though. It would have added more effect and would have impressed the audience more given that this is actually a theater production captured on film. Other than that, what a powerhouse cast. What a great engineer find in Jon Jon Briones!

By far the most well filmed movie musical production out there. The cinematography and editing is incredible, and it makes the musical as engaging on film as it would be if you were watching it live on stage. Out of every movie I've ever seen in my life, this is the one of watched the most. Eva Noblezada is an incredible Kim, I've listened to her sing the soundtrack of this musical possibly 100 times, and I still have not found the words to stress just how insanely talented and compelling she is. (I personally enjoy her interpretation of the character and the songs better than Lea Salonga- which speaks volumes as Lea Salonga is a legendary performer). The musical will make you cry and laugh, and leacve you tempted to watch it again. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie.
