Another in a series of well executed thought-provoking films with good cinematography and special effects and a good storyline but without the oomph! to get over the hump and into the consideration of the massive number of people to make it a hit. should be added to the list of films to be seen by science-fiction film lovers.

The cast was fantastic, and the dialogue was fairly well written, but the basic premise of the film and the ending were two of the biggest cop-outs in Science Fiction since Disney's The Black Hole.

SPOILERS: There's lots a good stuff in this movie...a great cast, eye-popping effects. But the whole alien premise is superfluous. There's more than enough room for drama in straight-up interplanetary flight. Case in point: The Martian. Not an alien to be found, only great storytelling.
