In this spellbinding thriller, a sleepy Norwegian town erupts after an American backpacker is arrested. Witnesses claim a teen died after touching the stranger, and that he inexplicably started a fire that engulfed a farm. He warns a psychologist, Christine, that he has supernatural powers, and that anyone who gets too close to him dies. Is he a liar, a freak of nature, an angry god? Determined to find the truth, Christine draws nearer, and what she finds is beyond her wildest imaginings...

This was an unexpectedly enjoyable find to watch. Had it on my list since it came out but was always on the fence whether or not it would be any good. Glad I finally decided to rent and watch it, loved the story with great character build up. Never knew where it was leading till the last half hour or so, very enjoyable ride, and definitely a must see for something other than hyped up Marvel movies. I'll probably end up buying this one and that's something I rarely do these days.

European filmmaking is a curious thing speaking as someone who grew up watching US movies. Which probably explains why I yearned for more character development. That being said and put aside, I enjoyed the movie and didn't get the Thor origin story connection until the end even though I might have suspected that was where we were going. After mulling it over for while, I would like to watch the movie again which in and of itself speaks to the quality of the movie.

The budget for this movie was nothing compared to a marvel movie. So don't expect amazing CGI. Still the movie amazed me. They have a great concept. Story could of been a bit better. Maybe if they turn this into a show. I definitely recommend this movie. Especially towards the end I wish it went on a little longer
