A pretty good adaptation of the Farley Mowatt novel. The character development is amazing to watch unfold. Charles Martin Smith plays the awkward outsider loner very well. You come to understand the Wolves well which is Mowatt's aim. An underrated gem.

When this movie came out, my father wanted to take me to see it. I said no. I am not interested. A few years went by, and I watched it on VHS. This is probably the most underrated movie ever made. It is about life and the universe, from the perspective of a study of Arctic wolves. Everything about this movie is a masterpiece.

Great movie ! I looked for it on other sites and could not find it THAN K YOU SO MUCH GOOGLE! I actually got to take images OF THESE WOLVES in studio! I worked for a little photo lab in Thousand Oaks CA, back in 1982, 83, most awesome animals, very good people handling them Sheryl,, Hubert Julian Sylvester, A A of Hollywood !! Honestly hadden't seen the movie in so long forgot the way it ended, but that's the best way to re-watch a classic! Haley and I watched it and loved the scenery and the wolves, The footage is fantastic!
