In Disney and Pixar's ONWARD, two teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late dad and embark on an extraordinary quest aboard Barley's epic van Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles, and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys' fearless mom Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realizes that her sons are missing, she teams up with a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpion, former warrior – aka The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer) – and heads off to find them. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed.

Onward is actually a fine Pixar movie, but don't go into it thinking it's the next "Inside Out" / "Toy Story" and you won't be disappointed. As a story, it's a wonderful representation of the relationships we have that help us grow. It does take a little while for any action/comedy to get going so I'm not sure if it's going to hold kid's interest for the first 20-30 mins but it's good after that. Nothing scary, very subtle LBGTQ mentioned, magic and a fictional inter-species relationship.

This is a fantastic film and one of Pixar's smartest examples of writing and storytelling to date. It's gotten far less attention than it deserves, and is a bold move of a major animation studio stepping into high fantasy with well-implemented nods to major names in fantasy like Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons. Whether you want a great, fun, child-friendly movie or an emotional story where everything seen and said has purpose, I can't recommend this movie enough!

3 idiots are considered The Tr*mp Prophecy, Homeward and Sister Wives fangirls. I think Onward has the emotional elements of Up, Inside Out and Coco with absolutely funny elements of the first Toy Story, Finding Nemo/Dory, Monsters Inc. and the fourth and final Toy Story. The film debuts way too soon as the crazy flu nightmares going on and I been dying to see in theaters but the movie places got temporary closed until this summer but I am been delighted to see Onward when it hits on Demand.
