Anna (Rebecca Hall) and Will (Dan Stevens) are each other's first loves and have never been with anyone else. Just as Will is about to propose to Anna, their best friend suggests that they try dating other people before making the commitment to spend the rest of their lives together. Fearing that their purely monogamous relationship may be holding them back, Anna and Will allow each other to explore other romantic relationships, prompting them to take a closer look at their own.
