Based on the popular video game franchise, Ratchet & Clank follows two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy "Lombax" who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pintsized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called the Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one's own identity in this thrilling and funny adventure featuring the voices of Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Rosario Dawson and Sylvester Stallone. Mildly entertaining, yet largely forgettable and tired. Based on the popular PlayStation games series, this video-game adaptation is far better than most, favoring a dedicated sense of following the source material, a coherent plot, and some amusing gags. Sadly, it lacks any real substance to stick with you, let alone compete against much better family films like Zootopia. I can't recommend R&C to die-hard fans either; the charms of the franchise (such as the gun-powered action and semi-subtle adult jokes) are non-existent.

This is indeed a movie but there are few elements of fun as there are in most modern animated films. It looks very dated visually and feels like an animated film from the 90s/early 2000s. This will mostly be enjoyed by fans of the franchise and very young viewers. The jokes are just slap stick mostly and tend to miss as well. Just my 2¢

I was hesitant about the movie, but excited beyond belief at the same time. Going back and playing the ps2 version in prep for the ps4 version in prep for the movie was intense. But there were so many little Easter eggs thrown in for long time fans of the series. The big thing that is noticible is that the graphics are as good in the game as they are on the big screen. This was a solid origin rebirth, not the best stand alone. Play & watch for the full coverage.
