I think it is sad that this country was obsessed with this man when they thought he was the bomber but the movie that shows his story suffered terrible box office numbers. Richard Jewell received zero justice in the court of public opinion. The movie is revealing and a good effort by the cast and crew. Eastwood has disjointed moments in every film he does but no more in this film than any other. The actor who portrays Richard Jewell does a good job in taking the watcher through the course of emotions that Jewell felt as the investigation ground on. Jon Ham has a barely there feel to him throughout the movie. Olivia Wilde's character is over the top and sometimes unbearable. This is not a knock on Wilde's acting skills; Kathy Scruggs was a real person and probably was a lot like Wilde's portrayal. However, it seems as if Eastwood's first foot out of the door with the Scrugg's character removes the option for the audience to objectively consider for themselves the media's role. The movie does a good job of posing to the watcher the dilemma of law enforcement;s need to capture a killer even if it means investigating the hero that emerged from the act of the killing. However, the examination of the media's role to inform versus the possibility of news being destructive due to ambiguity or ,even worse, incorrectness. Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates carry the movie though; both outstanding performances in their own right.

Another amazing movie by clint eastwood. a must see for everyone, great movie for the family, some swearing but very tasteful and true to what the dark side of the government can be like sadly. Spot on, thank you for the history lesson Mr Eastwood, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and god bless Richard Jewell. Hes a true hero and deserved to be publically recognized for that.

Richard Jewell is a film that succedded in tenseness of being nervous of what the bomb was going to be like, and how big. I was nervous. The performances are great, and it is one of the most emotional movies of the 2010s that goes along the ranks of Captain Phillips, Only The Brave, I Still Believe, I Can Only Imagine, I'm Not Ashamed, Deepwater Horizon, and others. The movie is alittle all over but doesn't stop it from being an emotional powerhouse.
