Acerca de esta película

Directed by Academy Award nominee Baz Luhrman (Moulin Rouge), this adaption of the classic Shakespearean play is passionate, visceral, sexy, violent, and other-worldly. Set in the mythical city of Verona Beach, the Montague's and Capulet's are two feuding families whose children meet and fall in love. Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Juliet (Claire Danes) must hide their love from the world... but with tragic consequences.

This a powerful version. Baz Lurman did the right thing by keeping the wonderful dialogue & putting the play in modern times. There are a few quirky bits but the main story is serious when it needs to be. This Juliet is a typical child teenager along with the scene of raging tears & snotty angst when she sees the priest about Romeo. It's disturbing to watch but done properly as Juliet WOULD have felt. Mercutio's (amazing) dream speech shows what a loose cannon he is. The final scene is beautiful & overwhelming. This film has been a firm favourite for years now.

Dazzling!!!! Very well acted, beautifully portrayed of Shakespeares love between two people, caught up in a war of two families, his Romeo and hers Juliet...the Montague and Capulets...too busy fighting each other, not realising love blossomed and ended i the most tragic of ways....

Luhrmann did a good job with putting the play in a modern setting whilst keeping the wonderful dialogue. Shakespeare purists might have a few criticisms against the film, (Robert Ashton) but it is great overall and fun to watch.😀
