Master explorer Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) takes on the adventure of his life when he embarks on a treasure hunt through some of the most dangerous regions of North Africa. Searching for whal locals call "The Ship of Death", a long lost Civil War battleship filled with coins, Pitt and his wisecracking sidekick (Steve Zahn) use their wits and clever heroics to help Doctor Eva Rojas (Penelope Cruz) who believes the ship may be linked to mysterious deaths in the very same area.

The book by Clive Cussler that spawned the movie was amazing. The movie, yeah not so much. I love McConaughey, but he was not the right person to play Dirk Pitt and the film company did not relay the book well.

I can't get enough of this movie. . It's comfort food for my soul! Steve Zahn's character and looks reminds me of the carefree personality of my son.

I saw this film when it first came out and thought it was great!! I was happy when it was released on DVD and bought it immediately. It's a fun movie that I go to again and again when I'm feeling down. Highly recommended!!!
