As I am reading some of the negative reviews on here, I got to thinking. This is children's movie. Grown folks ain't got no business being in young folks business. Let the kids watch the movie without judging the animation(that I liked) and without dising the dry humor(that I found funny). As someone that has been watching this movie since it came out, shut up, you don't have to watch the movie.😒😒😒

The Animation is so uncanny and hideous: a hybrid of the cast that voiced the characters with animated sea creatures. References from other movies (particularly, the godfather). Although Oscar had a somewhat charming introduction, The story went from slow-paced because of Oscar moping around being cool to "way too" fast-paced with a liar revealed story. The voice-acting went from decent to mediocre to annoying. The comedy is not "laugh out loud" funny, just snickers and chuckles, but, most of the jokes were poorly written and are so flat. There is nothing special about the characters, they are barely even memorable. The score for this film by Hans Zimmer is dynamic, colorful, interesting, and is a great fit for the tone of the film. For the majority of the time the songs for the soundtrack was good (using the right song for the right mood). The characters can sometimes be likable (amusing and charming). Sure, the purpose of this film is to teach kids that it is dead wrong to lie, but, this uninspired cartoon as a whole, is the runt of the Dreamworks company so far; the whole story is irrelevant and ridiculous, the characters are empty plot-drivers, the animation is bizarre in an unpleasant way, and the comedy is mediocre. Not recommended.

Back when DW couldn't voice cast or animate at all... thank God for Shrek. Whenever I watch this movie, seeing the faces of the actors in the fish is almost as bad as only hearing the actors themselves and not the characters. Jack black and Robert DeNiro were the ONLY saving graces as their acting prowess propelled poorly written characters upward.
