A dramatic thriller directed by Academy Award® winner Tom McCarthy and starring Matt Damon, Stillwater follows an American roughneck from Oklahoma who travels to Marseilles to visit his estranged daughter in prison, for a murder she claims she did not commit. Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill Baker builds a new life for himself in France as he makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter.

Matt Damon is correct. Gone are the days when an "arrogant, unthinking (white) male character who runs roughshod over everyone & everything without seeming consequence" could serve as a protagonist outside of an action movie. The movie would have been better served if it had been centered on the daughter's lopsided character, but it still would have been a non-starter. A gross attempt to capitalize on news headlines that completely misses the important narrative of its story. Don't bother.

Yeah so this movie can make you doze off if you don't focus, a bit slow but has some very powerful and emotional scenes. Matt Damon's performance can't be compared, he did so well making everything seem natural and flawless. This story has lot's of lessons and can bring the human in you. Highly recommend it.

Nothings more pathetic than a white liberal actor playing the part of a right winger. I'm not even a Trump supporter don't even care to vote cause both parties suck! however I did see where this garbage was going. It did however put me to sleep since I do have a bad case of insomnia, so the movie was useful for something.
