Played by Anna Thompson, Sue begins to despair after she loses her job and struggles to find companionship. Her tenuous grasp on reality further fluctuates when a man (Matthew Powers) whom she met in a restaurant and started an affair is called to go to India for an assignment. But when he is sent on a mission to India, her great descent begins, and her obsessive need for physical content becomes dangerous. Called by The New York Times "a wrenching portrait of a psychologically disordered woman", Sue won two major awards at the 1998 Berlin International Film Festival.
