I love Harrison Ford and he's a great actor, but that couldn't save this film. I'm still wondering why he agreed to do this movie! I don't remember hating this book when I read it as a kid, but we all thought this movie was terrible. The CGI dogs were something we accepted though strange, but the movie itself was full of eye rolling moments. Not worth our time or money spent. Good for some laughs at how bad it was at times, though!

I would give it 3.5 stars, better than just ok but only because of Omar Sy, he is the best actor in this film, not Ford who is just ok. I never read the book so I can't compare but almost always the book is better and it must be true here because the movie left something out. Maybe it's the CGI that makes it hard to feel anything for the animals? And there are several things that happen in the movie that could not happen in real life so that makes it more like an animated movie. Some of the scenes are also stiff and not as heart-felt as they were meant to be.... I am sure kids will love it, adults, meh...it's ok.

As a fan of the book, I was greatly disappointed by the changes that were made to appease today's society. The movie (if you aren't basing it off the book) was slow but okay. The Good + The plot is essentially the same as the book. The dog is dog-napped, brought to Alaska, made into a sled dog, sold to Hal, rescued by Thorton, Thorton is killed, Buck joins the wolves. + Movie could have been from the 1990s (not filled with jokes and a dumb downed script) + Buck the Dog has his moments + Most of the actors do a decent job The Bad - There were cringe moments in the CG - Hal survives to do what the Yeehats where supposed to do - They didn't show the might of Buck in the sled pull - Hal's Revenge - The Spitz/Buck rivalry execution I would watch it again. It's a family movie, so I get it.
