The Earth has stopped rotating because of a change in the planet's core temperature. To restore the normal temperature, astronauts must travel to the center and detonate a nuclear bomb before the core superheats and destroys all life on the surface.

One of my all-time favourite good-bad films. A cast consisting of Oscar winners - Hilary Swank, Stanley Tucci - and multi-award winning actors such as Aaron Eckhart and Delroy Lindo - takes the most ridiculous premise (the earth's core has stopped spinning) and turns it into something that makes you actually care about the characters. It's one of those "I really like this but I have no idea why" types of film. Fun. Really good fun.

This movie is the ultimate guilty pleasure, the storyline is extremely silly, but the way it's told is quite entertaining and you genuinely care about the characters. I would say this is a bit like those 50's B movies like Journey to the Centre of the Earth, it's hokey in places, none of the science makes sense in it (like the sun's rays can melt a bridge, but just cause an instant sunburn on a car driver), but it's very entertaining and the lead characters are charming. It is worth a watch.

I know this is just my opinion, but I really like this movie.
