Mysterious motorcycle racer, Luke (Ryan Gosling), desperately tries to connect with a former lover, Romina (Eva Mendes), who secretly gave birth to the stunt rider's son. In an attempt to provide for his new family, Luke quits the carnival life and commits a series of bank robberies aided by his superior riding ability. The stakes rise as Luke is put on a collision course with an ambitious police officer, Avery Cross (Bradley Cooper), looking to quickly move up the ranks in a police department riddled with corruption.

This film is well worth a watch, but be warned about how slow it is if you aren't patient with plots. Sadly for me it just began to drag toward the end. It certainly doesn't pan out like you'd imagine either, something that did catch me by surprise. Perhaps to the film's credit I suppose. I am glad I just rented it though, as it is not one I will watch again.

Not quite in the same league as Cianfrance's previous film, Blue Valentine, but still very good. Shifts in the stories direction can be uncomfortable but the movie will deliver if you stick with it.

This is absolutely and totally incredible film. Story line was so very well thought out and works extremely well a storey within a story. Brilliant!
