Afflicted with a terminal illness, John Bernard Books (John Wayne), the last of the legendary gunfighters, quietly returns to Carson City for medical attention from his old friend Dr. Hostetler (James Stewart). However, it is not Books' fate to die in peace, as he becomes embroiled in one last valiant battle.

Shooked there hands. Didn't wash it for about a week. They were promoting Gun Smoke. @ the fairs around the country. Wasn't on TV till the next year.😁 Its something you don't forget. RSP

D film is as great as the Duke was. But I still say his best was The Searchers.
