Held a lot of promise but a tad banal by the end. Michael Fassbender always turns in a good performance but even he could not make this story mesmerising. Scenically magnificent but at times disjointed, with a predictable storyline seen many times in films. Thinly disguised as Nordic Noir, it wasted a lot of great talent including J K Simmons, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Chloe Sevigny and even David Denkic (Top of the Lake: China Girl). Occasionally felt like story threads just came abruptly to a pointless deadend without any explanation on the relevance of the characters involvement in the film (J K Simmons a perfect example of padding, as Arve Stop). I am sure the novel was far more absorbing.

Not one for fans of the books. The origin was changed along with the murders of the two main deaths/storyline. Completely different end for the main characters also. Actors played their parts well, but after reading the books, this has been butchered

Weird, predictable, odd editing and progression, but still entertaining due to the good cast and Fassbender doing his thing as always and being awesome. Overall....ok.
