The Thing is not a horror movie. The Thing is a remake of a Science-Fiction classic called The Thing from Another World. This remake has outrageous, grotesque and alien Things to show you. Fans will say it is a horror movie but it is a science-fiction movie with sickening special effects. The alien crash landed here in its damaged flying saucer and froze in the ice. Years later, scientists discover it and thaws it out and it imitates the people around it, absorbing them. Top-notch special fx👍

A fantastic story of otherworldly creatures, human isolation, and paranoia. This would absolutely earn a 5 star, but the gore can feel gratuitous if you're just looking for a good thriller. Still, best sci-fi thriller I've ever seen and worth investigation.

It still holds up as one of the great scary movies of the past 30 years. The special effects are showing their age, but still a solid movie. Want a scary movie? You found one.
