A supernatural beginning, with a lot of drama, with a supernatural ending. No substance except feeling sorry for how people in that time may have thought their ill luck was from bad omens, but in this film there was a supernatural reason which actually took away from a potential real period drama. No jumps. no scares just WHY! Oh the evil wanted to just have evil stuff happen.

Would have given it more but there were muffled conversations. Some scenes were too dark (even with brightness turned up full) to make out what was happening, which is a little annoying to say the least.

I counted one laugh in the whole movie, pretty unrelenting. Not as slow moving as some have said. Based on historical, although certainly dubious, accounts from fanatical times where witchcraft was taken as a given. In some ways this is a Christian friendly movie, although pretty grisly. But to say more on this aspect would be a spoiler. Better than ur average 'horror'. Hard to categorise. Great performances from all actors although may need subtitles due to often whispered, historically accurate speach.
