TRANSCENDENT MAN chronicles the life and ideas of Ray Kurzweil, the inventor and futurist known for his bold vision of the Singularity, a point in the near future when technology will be changing so rapidly, that we will have to enhance ourselves with artificial intelligence to keep up. Ray predicts this will be the dawning of a new civilization in which we will no longer be dependent on our physical bodies, we will be billions of times more intelligent and there will be no clear distinction between human and machine, real reality and virtual reality. Human aging and illness will be reversed; world hunger and poverty will be solved and we will ultimately cure death. Critics accuse Ray of being too optimistic and argue that the dangers of the Singularity far outweigh the benefits, pointing out the apocalyptic implications that once machines achieve consciousness, we may not be able to control them. Whether Ray's controversial ideas incite excitement or fear, dogma or disbelief this ambitious documentary will forever change the way you look at life, death, and your own future.

The genes do NOT determine or cause one to inherit traits or conditions in the human. It's JUST information; not a deterministic factor in getting a disease or any condition a parent had. WE ARE THE DETERMINING FACTOR by what we put in our bodies - mind and body . It is a simple matter that disease APPEARS to be heretitary. We go with what we know ; and in that we make diet and lifestyle decisions that oft do not fall far from the tree; so we simply create the conditions of 'inherently' having type 2 diabetes , just like mom or grandma or an uncle etc. For a country supposedly sophisticated and advanced medically - we have so many diseases in our population ; the pharmaceutical industry has lobbyist; and it's companies traded on the NYSE. The Drs work for them . DON'T believe it ? WALK INTO ANY PHARMACY ON THE PLANET and just look at all the filled prescriptions. WHAT controls what we put into our bodies , in the U.S ; available to consumers ? The FDA . That's food AND drug administration. Of course that headquarters in 6 miles from D.C. I've vetted more than I can adequately share here. This doc is interesting; and I like what interests me. Duh
