Fantastic movie. I own a ribbon bar and other items that belonged to Frank A Armstrong who was the real inspiration for the book and movie he flew the first American Bombing Raid over axis territory the first daylight bombing raid over Germany and the last bombing raid over Japan he was also the first American officer to receive the British Distinguished Flying Cross during ww2. Armstrong also earned the Distinguished service cross and the Silver Star among many other awards.

I don't care for war movies but do appreciate movies about people in tough situations, such as war. This shows the real humans that made up a part of the Allied war machine. Worth the time and expense to watch, again and again.

Gregory Peck, first of all, was amazing in this movie, and it conveyed such a great message. The quality of the film is very good for 1949 as well. I loved it and I'm sure anyone interested in war movies will too.
