Andrew Neyman is an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. Terence Fletcher, an instructor known equally for his teaching talents and his terrifying methods, discovers Andrew and transfers him into his band. Andrew’s passion to achieve perfection soon spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher continues to push him to the brink of both his ability and his sanity.

One of the best movies I have ever seen. JK Simmons way of telling Miles Teller he see's absolute greatness in him is by abusing him and pushing him past his limits, creating a drive and obsession that ends up paying off very well for him, and leaves us inspired and maybe questioning why we don't strive and obsess like Miles does in this movie. This movie has so many lessons on what it takes to be successful, guarantee it is better than any other movie you were considering!

After watching this for the second time I still don't see what everyone was so enamored about. Mostly unlikable characters and an average story. Would do 2.5 if it were an option. 3/5

Wonderful pacing, never leaving you uninterested or bored. Great tense film with a satisfying ending, leaving one to speculate who really won in the end.
