When Mugsy is bragging to the neighborhood kids about how tough Spike is, Heathcliff makes an appearance and proceeds to beat up on the hapless pooch. Mugsy's had enough. He kicks Spike out of his life. With nowhere left to go, Spike hits the streets. It's not an easy life for a dog who's known only living in a home. Spike has a hard time when he runs up against dogs who live in the alleys. He can't even get himself picked up by the dogcatcher, in hopes of finding a new master. Things take a turn in Spike's favor, however, when Heathcliff and Iggy see him. Heathcliff delights in Spike's plight, but Iggy feels sad for him, offering to take him in. Heathcliff, of course, is horrified. With Spike living in the Nutmeg household, Heathcliff's life is turned topsy-turvy. Everything from sleeping to eating dinner is a nightmare for Heathcliff, who has the lumbering Spike to contend with. Desperate to get rid of him, Heathcliff hatches a plot. He sets up a situation where Mugsy will be able to see Spike beat up on Heathcliff. It isn't easy to goad Spike into a fight, but he finally succeeds and Mugsy witnesses it. Proud of his dog, Mugsy takes him back, much to Heathcliff's relief. / Mungo sees the feline of his dreams, Lulu, (who looks just like him), but doesn't know how to ask her out. Everyone has advice - play hard to get; be athletic; act like a rock star; etc, etc. Lulu is intrigued but thinks he's mixed up. Nothing works until Lulu suggests she'd love to go out with the real Mungo which is a great relief to him!
