Things take an upward turn for the boys when Marcus meets some fit Britons in the courtyard and Stylax finds a flyer to an orgy. With his grocery budget now spent on orgy tickets, Grumio must scrimp and save in order to put food on the table.

The boys are introduced to Cynthia's new boyfriend Cassius, a friendly local gladiator. Everyone's charmed apart from Marcus who hopes that, one way or another, their relationship will be short-lived. Stylax plays a prank on Aurelius which gets out of hand.

Stylax buys Grumio an erotic vase for his birthday featuring a character who bears a striking resemblance to someone nearby. Marcus has done nothing for his slave and, under pressure from the girls, suggests they swap roles for the day. Stylax hangs out with his cousin Lucretia, with whom he has an unusually close relationship.

To endear himself to Cynthia, Marcus befriends a stray cat whom she's rescued from the courtyard. Stylax is suffering from a disturbing itch and visits a sexual health clinic where he falls for an attractive nurse.

Mass immigration from Thrace puts the boys into contact with a sexy Thracian lodger Irina and a dazzling yellow exotic fruit, the Banana. Meanwhile, Marcus has an unfortunate encounter with an elderly war veteran.

It's the festival of Saturnalia and the celebration on the stroke of midnight is the perfect opportunity for Marcus to make a move on Cynthia. Grumio goes on a mission to make sure that sacrificial meat doesn't go to waste.

When the boys win big at a chariot race it looks like their fortunes might have taken a turn for the better. Stylax decides to reinvent himself as a charioteer while Marcus prefers to spend his money on romantic pursuits. Grumio gets nothing.

Marcus is unexpectedly asked to be best man for the upcoming wedding of Aurelius (waterboy) and sets about ogranising his stag do. Stylax takes chariot lessons from a volatile driving instructor and Grumio gets caught up in Landlord’s drug dealing.

While doing the recycling, Grumio finds a baby behind the bins and takes it home to raise as his own. Stylax uses it to strike up a relationship with an attractive young wet nurse. Meanwhile, Marcus tries to avoid seeing Cynthia’s painfully boring one-woman play.

Grumio falls ill after eating an apple on the loo. Marcus refuses to pay for his medical treatment preferring instead to go with Cynthia’s remedy of candlelight and prayer. Stylax strikes up a rapport with a rich nobleman Gaius who agrees to fund his charioteering career.

The boys buy an eccentric slave called Mushki at an auction. Grumio finds his position in the household gradually usurped, as Marcus is impressed by the new guy. But Stylax has a sneaking suspicion that Mushki might be a psychopath.

It's a public holiday in Rome for the local elections. Marcus and Stylax sign up as hired clappers for wig-wearing politician Victor of the Gracchii. Grumio however is drawn towards another candidate Julius Priscus who's giving away free promotional plums.

The boys bump into Fabianus a school friend who's now a hot shot lawyer living the high life in Rome. Through him Stylax reconnects with an old flame Cordelia. Grumio finds something unusual hiding in their wardrobe.

Marcus is stressed because the girls will soon be deported unless they raise 3000 denarii. Stylax thinks they should bet their savings on him winning an underground chariot race. Grumio visits Landlord in prison through a sewage pipe.

The boys are desperate for tickets to one of the 'Beast shows' at the Games. Marcus meets Delphine, a fiery activist from Gaul, whom he hopes will become his 'Gaul-friend.' Grumio clashes with Landlady, their missing Landlord's formidable mother.

Grumio meets Justin, the father who left him on a hill as a baby and who now wants to make up for lost time. Stylax starts dating Camilla, a female discus thrower, on a sex ban during the Games. Marcus and Delphine come to terms with each other's past.

Marcus' parents are visiting for the weekend and he's keen to keep them and Delphine far apart. Stylax pursues a romance with Ursula, one of the Vestal Virgins, who guard the city's sacred flame. Grumio finds some mouldy cheese under his bed and spots a business opportunity.

The boys get cultured when Grumio is street-cast to play the part of Cupid in an upcoming play. Marcus becomes his agent and uses his new connections to impress Delphine. Stylax understudies the lead actor so he can meet some theatre groupies.

As a crimewave sweeps the city, the boys join a Roman Military Fitness class to protect themselves on the streets. Flavia introduces some dubious new security measures at work. Grumio starts dating Agatha, a talented baker, who may well be a feeder.

Marcus and Stylax meet Ramases, the work-experience boy, who also happens to be the son of the company owner. Together, they invent a new office-based sport, Jugball. Grumio samples gourmet food when Ramases lends him his store-card for the emporium.

When Grumio injures another slave in a fight over a carrot, he is forced to replace him until he recovers. And so he joins a new household where work is taken seriously. Marcus invites Delphine to move in. But can she bond with Stylax?

The boys meet their new neighbour, a weatherman. Marcus uses the forecast of a small tremor to bring excitement to his relationship with Delphine. Stylax tries his luck with an attractive new colleague. Grumio discovers Indian food.
