About this game

Explore the world around you in a whole new way with Geocaching Adventure Lab® outdoor scavenger hunts! Community-generated scavenger hunts let you uncover hidden gems, learn local trivia, discover landmarks, and everyday treasures through an interactive, outdoor, and contactless experience.

Each Adventure is created by another Adventurer and shares a special location, story, challenge, or educational experience. Whether you’re looking for an activity for your family, yourself, or a date, you’ll love getting outside and exploring with Adventure Lab.

As you venture outside using the Geocaching Adventure Lab® app, the map will guide you to Adventures in your area. Adventures can have multiple stages to complete. Explore at your own pace and search for clues to unlock fun stories, puzzles, and hidden adventures. Solve the puzzle at all of the stages to complete your Adventure!

Already have a Geocaching account? You can log in with your geocaching username and Adventures count towards your geocaching statistics and total finds.

Ratings and reviews

It could be a little more intuitive. Scrub that: it could be a LOT more intuitive. Once you get started it's brilliant, but the first time you use it you may well be frustrated at the lack of initial instructions. It's also frustrating that logs are limited in length and that only the person actually logged in on a device can claim finds, meaning that unlike ordinary geocaches, two or more people cannot share.

I enjoy doing Adventure Labs, although as I only come across them occasionally, I then have to work out what the relevant buttons do again - which isn't obvious! (And I like now being able to see multiple AL points on the map.) My one frustration is that whenever you open the app, it starts with the map very zoomed out. e.g. In Central London, you get a map covered with 50-100 overlapping pins, within about a 15 mile radius - which is completely useless, until you pinch zoom in, a few times.

It still has bugs if you and your spouse are sharing an account and you want to split up and tackle one Adventure. Additionally, you have to access all of your information through the app on your phone or tablet. It cannot be done 'online' unless you have a Chromebook. It is for this reason that I give it 3 stars. Other than that, we enjoy doing Adventure Labs with (or without) our grandkids.
