PredEx is an app specifically designed for research on the normal breathing patterns of COPD patients (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). This research is being conducted in collaboration with three Dutch hospitals and will take place from October 2024 to April 2025. The goal is to determine whether so-called lung attacks can be detected and/or predicted.
Key Features:
* Easy connection to research device: The PredEx app works in conjunction with a small measurement device that participants use at home to measure their breathing. This device sends the data via Bluetooth to the app.
* Data collection for research: The app collects the breathing data of participants. At the end of the study, this data will be compared with the use of medications such as prednisone and antibiotics, as well as with hospital admissions or discharges.
* User-friendly: The app is designed to be easy to use, so participants can perform breathing measurements without any hassle.
* Safety and privacy: Only the measurements and data from the device are transmitted via the app. The personal data of the participating patients are known only to the three hospitals. The measurement data is well-secured and is used solely for the research. The privacy of the participants is strictly protected by the hospitals.
* Support for important research: The results of this research may help in the future to better predict when people with COPD need extra care.
