worse since updates. it's never been as slick as other apps but the security made up for it. with the new update, wire on android can't record audio (and there even used to be fun filters for audio messages!). you can't set disappearing messages (a key security feature that was removed). and when in the phone's gallery and trying to send an image, the app often just opens instead of sending, so you have to redo the send. can no longer archive chats. the list goes on. wire is way worse now.

Annoying app - I'm not able to turn on notifications, the only ones I get are when I'm using my phone and there's a pop-up for a few seconds about a new message, then it disappears completely. Phone settings are okay, reinstalling the app doesn't help. It's constantly "waiting for network", messages I send don't show up in the chat until a few minutes later.

New phone, still the same "setting up the app - waiting for network" bug so I literally cannot access my account and messages lmao My account is cooked, not because it's deleted or anything : wire just refuses to let me connect back to it. After looking online it's clear that this is a widely reported issue but Wire doesn't seem bothered by it as it's nowhere to be found in the troubleshooting guide that doesn't exist. The people behind this pathetic app are a bunch of clowns.
